"Novel ini unik karena kita diajak membaca email dari 2 lonely character-nya. Djenar pernah menulis dalam bentuk cerpen, tapi ini novel yang cukup panjang. I think email is a bit tricky to people's emotion. It's addictive, but it can never replace the warmth of direct human interaction, apalagi untuk dijadikan alat pengganti 'their lost happiness'. Kasihan aku sama mereka berdua. It's so typical of some people I know, they're in the age group of Nina and Yudha, never been sexually abused or raped, yet their souls are tortured. I guess they have experienced emotional abuses (like Nina, by her mom). Jadi sama-sama bahaya karena lebih tidak kelihatan.
But anyway, back to the subject of unhappiness, maybe they should take a hike and see more nature (bisa ke Himalaya atau Bromo) karena kata Dalai Lama, the key of happiness is in our hand. I think Novita knows very well about unhappiness, as she writes eloquently about it."
